Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a DNA virus belonging to the Papoviridae family and the genus Papillomavirus.4 It presents tropism by epithelial cells, is the cause of one of the most common infections in the world, and is also related to the occurrence of cervical cancer Uterus. 4 5
The most common clinical manifestations of infection by such a virus are the appearance of warts, which mainly affect the skin of the extremities, mucosa, genital skin, and oral and laryngeal mucosa. 4 There is no specific treatment to eliminate human papillomavirus, being done only the treatment of such warts by laser, electrocauterization, trichloroacetic acid (ATA), and drugs that improve the body's defense system. ³
According to the World Health Organization, pharmaceutical assistance is the set of actions aimed at the promotion, protection, and recovery of health, both individual and collective, with the medicine as an essential input and aiming at access to its rational use.¹ Such assistance can be done in cases where HPV causes cervical cancer, in which case treatments such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy are used. 6
Chemotherapy is based on the use of drugs that act at the cellular level, interfering in the process of cell growth and division, to treat malignant neoplasms. As important as the diagnosis, is the adherence to the use of drugs by patients, which may be lower in cases of neoplasia. Thus, pharmaceutical assistance can act to guide the patient on the correct use of medicines. 6
