Pharmacy and Genetics.

Pharmacy, in summary, is a course outlined for the study of drug and drug reactions. So far,pharmacy has reached great heights that man of ages old may not have expected. However, as the world advances, diseases build a greater resistance to these drugs and cures that have been created by man. Diseases are now trying to be dealt with on the genetic level.
How best can the interests of upcoming pharmacists be jeered towards the study of pharmacogenomics and how best can the academic curriculum be readjusted to suite this upcoming possibility.

AnnabethOcansey I do agree that genetics has become a key component of Pharmaceutical sciences and I am of the school of thought that it should be fused into the academic curriculum

At my university, genetics is already part of the curriculum, however, I believe that it would be interesting to focus more on this area with extra courses or to increase the subject's workload, since it is an extensive and important subject.

If it is not to be fused with the academic curriculum pharmacist at least should seek to post graduate studies in this growing field specially Pharmacogenomics

Kindly correct me if I'm wrong anyone but I do think that genetics has been fused into the curriculum or at least to an extent(I only speak for my school). And this is particularly in courses from the Pharmaceutical microbiology and biotechnology department.

However, I do agree that it could be more extensive.

RxLuwa In my university (KNUST, Ghana) it has been fused into the academic curriculum so I agree with your point. However, it is not as much as it can be. I believe we are limited to knowing just a bit of what pharmacogenomics is about.
